LeapFrog is an invaluable productivity tool for human resource
managers and line managers who carry responsibility for the
recruitment and selection of talent.
Software Functionality
The functionality of the software allows users to:
- Create a competency library for roles, job families, organisational
levels, or business units
- Edit from an existing competency library
- Analyse the competency success criteria for different
roles
- Validate competency profiles
- Generate competency-based interview guides
Competency Analysis
LeapFrog comes complete with a full competency library that
may be used to identify and apply selection criteria for vacant
roles. The competency library may be copied, customised or
amended to reflect specific requirements. In fact, multiple
libraries may be developed, stored and updated electronically
by organisational level or job family.
Validation of Competency Profiles
The accuracy of and buy-in to competency profiles is pivotal
to their utility. LeapFrog incorporates a validation function
that allows you to generate a competency validation questionnaire
inviting relevant stakeholders to comment on competency profiles
that have been drafted. Presented as a Microsoft Word document
in user friendly format, the questionnaire invites job content
experts to:
- Rate the relative importance of the competency to job
success
- Rank order the competencies according to their criticality
for job success
- Indicate the level of comprehensiveness of the competencies
for understanding the success criteria for a given role
- Provide additional feedback on the competencies ranging
from 'word smithing' to missing behaviours
The validation questionnaire may be easily emailed to respondents,
completed and returned by email. The questionnaire data can
then be entered into the software and a professional validation
report may be produced that details the validation statistics
in terms of aggregate rating, ranking and comprehensiveness
data.
Interview Guide Generation
A common problem facing organisations in making recruitment
and selection decisions is poorly managed interviews. For
example:
- Inconsistent content being covered between different candidates
making comparisons difficult
- Ratings being made without documented evidence that threatens
the legal defensibility of decisions
- Inappropriate questions being asked, threatening accuracy,
defensibility and candidate impressions of their prospective
employer
- Incomplete behavioural examples being collected in interviews
- The interview process being poorly managed from introductions
and upfront positioning through to interview completion,
thus adversely impacting candidate impressions
To provide a remedy for these and other related interviewing
issues, LeapFrog includes a function that enables the generation
of standard professional interview guides to assist human
resources professionals and line managers accurately and efficiently
collect data from candidates through the behavioural interviewing
process.
Each interview guide is professionally laid out in a user
friendly Microsoft Word format, and includes guidance with
regard to:
- Preparing for the interview
- Greeting the candidate and providing an overview of the
process before the commencement of questioning
- Asking questions to cover previous work history
- Behavioural questions by selected competency that prompts
interviewers to ensure complete behavioural examples are
solicited and recorded on the guide
- Closing the interview
- Rating and integrating competency data with other data
sources
Each competency in the LeapFrog library is replete with a
battery of behavioural questions that may be randomly or selectively
allocated to different interviews and/or interviewers. And
the LeapFrog administrator can add additional questions or
alter existing questions with ease.
